2010 IGF Finalists

I’ve been a huge, huge fan of indie games for a couple of years now, ever since I really tried them out after Cave Story. I realized that a lot of new ideas can come out of the ether when you don’t have the constraints that big companies do (like the one I work at). Watching some of the movies from the finalists is like watching all of the talks I’ve had with friends over the years about what we could do with our game ideas come into their own. I can’t wait to play some of these. I highly, highly suggest you go over to Boing Boing and read that article, watch the videos, and taste the excitement. It’s really interesting for me also being able to see some of the people I went to DigiPen with coming into their own and being a moving force in the video games industry. Marc Ten Bosch was somewhat of a legend while I was there, and his stuff has only gotten better.

After that, I also suggest you read this article on how the IGF games get judged. I like that their process is fairly open even if I don’t necessarily agree with the choices they make. Can’t wait for GDC to see who actually wins all of the prizes!
